The Best Coffee in Palma

Ten Palma cafés we would happily send a friend to, from local roasters to tiny filter bars. Coffee comes first; good food and a lovely room are a bonus.

The Rankings

Ten places worth making a detour for, ranked for 2026.

Mistral is our number one this year. They roast in Palma, the espresso is reliably well dialled in, and there is usually something interesting on filter. The Banc shop can get busy, but the team knows its coffee and will happily talk you through the beans. A 4.8 rating from more than 900 Google reviews backs up what the coffee guides have been saying for years.

The Coffee

In-house roasted single-origin specialty coffee

The Vibe

Hip, urban, award-winning

Must Try:Single-origin filter, flat white, espresso
Carrer del Banc 4, 07001 Palma

BATX’s Arxiduc café is a bright, relaxed spot near the Sóller train station. It serves Lot61 beans from Amsterdam and makes one of the better flat whites in town. The pastries are made in house using organic flour from Farines Bellver Ric, a small Mallorcan producer that grows ancestral grains using ecological farming methods. Natural light, friendly service and an unfussy menu give it the feel of a proper neighbourhood café. BATX also has a second shop in Santa Catalina.

The Coffee

Specialty coffee from Lot61 Coffee Roasters (Amsterdam), exclusive Palma distributor

The Vibe

Bright, relaxed neighbourhood café with natural light and friendly service

Must Try:Lot61 flat white, batch brew, house-made pastries
Carrer Arxiduc Lluís Salvador 7, 07004 Palma
Carrer de Despuig 63, 07013 Palma

HOTTO is small, calm and very particular about how it makes coffee. Espresso, filter and cold brew are all taken seriously, and the sandos are worth ordering if you are hungry. Its Google score is 4.8 from more than 800 reviews. That is a strong result, although the unusually fast growth in review numbers deserves some caution.

The Coffee

Micro roastery, specialty espresso and brew bar

The Vibe

Tokyo-inspired minimalist, plywood design, communal table

Must Try:Cold brew, filter coffee, egg sando
Plaça de Raimundo Clar 12, 07002 Palma

Surry Hills is a small café tucked just below street level. It can fill up around brunch, but it is not usually as hectic as Palma’s larger all-day spots. Its Google review count is unusually high for a café of this size, so we treated the number with caution rather than taking volume as proof of quality. They use locally roasted Mistral beans, make a particularly good cold brew and serve an Australian-inspired brunch alongside Argentinian alfajores.

The Coffee

Uses local Mistral beans, Australian-style preparation

The Vibe

Small, warm and tucked below street level, with an Australian-meets-Mediterranean feel

Must Try:Cold brew, flat white, alfajores
C. del Carme 12, 07001 Palma
Interior of Nano Coffee Lab specialty coffee shop in central Palma de Mallorca

Nano is the big new entry this year. It is a proper multi-roaster bar, with beans from names such as Nomad, April and Tanat rather than a fixed house coffee. That makes it the place we would send someone who wants a V60 and actually cares which coffee is in it. Specialist writers rate the filter coffee highly, and nearly 750 Google reviews give it a solid public track record too.

The Coffee

Multi-roaster specialty bar serving coffees from respected European roasters including Nomad, April and Tanat

The Vibe

Compact, knowledgeable and focused firmly on the cup

Must Try:V60 or batch brew with the current guest roaster
Carrer de Can Asprer 2, 07012 Palma

Bacan feels more like a neighbourhood café than a destination built for tourists. The courtyard is quiet, the pastries are made in-house and the milk drinks are consistently good. They have served Hola Coffee and often offer filter, cold brew or an espresso tonic alongside the usual menu. It is an easy place to like and an even easier place to stay too long.

The Coffee

Specialty coffee from Hola Coffee with espresso, filter, cold brew and seasonal drinks

The Vibe

Family-run, laid-back, lovely courtyard terrace, great music

Must Try:Espresso tonic, filter coffee, homemade pastries
Carrer del Baró de Santa Maria del Sepulcre 12, 07012 Palma

La Molienda helped start Palma's specialty-coffee scene and still belongs on the list. It now roasts its own beans and has more than one location, although we prefer the Bisbe Campins shop. The current Google score is lower than the newer cafés above it, but almost 2,000 reviews and more than a decade in business count for something. The breakfast is also very good.

The Coffee

Own roastery since 2020. Pioneer, first specialty café in Palma (2014)

The Vibe

Sunny, light-filled Mallorcan charm, trendy but authentic

Must Try:House-roasted filter, espresso, signature brioche
Carrer del Bisbe Campins 11, 07012 Palma

Riutort is a low-key favourite with locals and coffee travellers. It buys from Spanish micro-roasters, makes a strong espresso and does excellent toast and pastries. The room is simple and the welcome is warm. Ratings are remarkably consistent across Google and Tripadvisor, which is not always the case with busy city-centre cafés.

The Coffee

Sourced from local micro-roasters (Mistral, Cafés San Agustín)

The Vibe

Calm, minimalist, relaxed. A place that encourages lingering

Must Try:Espresso, filter coffee, cinnamon roll

La Rambla

The Barn's Palma bar is tucked into La Rambla and keeps the focus firmly on coffee. The beans come from its Berlin roastery, with single origins available as espresso and hand brew. The Google review count is modest beside the local heavyweights, but recent coffee writers have had very good cups here. Opening hours can be shorter than expected, so check before walking over.

The Coffee

Berlin's award-winning roaster, strong single-origin focus

The Vibe

Minimalist, Berlin meets Mediterranean

Must Try:Single-origin V60, cortado, espresso tonic

Arabay has been roasting in Mallorca since 1952, long before specialty coffee became fashionable. The Sindicat flagship spreads a café, shop and training space over several floors, with plenty of origins and brewing methods to choose from. Not every cup gets glowing reviews, which explains its lower position, but few places in Palma offer the same range or history.

The Coffee

Own roastery since 1952, ~20 different origins, multiple brew methods

The Vibe

Three-story flagship with jazz music, educational coffee space

Must Try:Single-origin AeroPress, house 1952 blend, shakerato

About Us

The people behind the cup.

Before Palma, there was Melbourne. And before Melbourne, there was Tokyo, Portland, Copenhagen, Bogotá, Addis Ababa, and dozens of cities in between. We've spent years chasing the perfect cup across six continents, from hole-in-the-wall roasters in Kyoto's backstreets to legendary third-wave cafés in Brooklyn and Stockholm.

We've pulled shots at altitude in Ethiopia's highlands, cupped single-origins in Colombian fincas, and debated water temperature with baristas in Oslo at two in the morning. Coffee isn't our hobby. It's the lens through which we've seen the world.

When we finally settled in Mallorca, we discovered a coffee scene that rivals cities ten times its size. This guide is our honest take on where to find the best coffee in Palma, shaped by thousands of cups in dozens of countries.

We choose to stay anonymous. Not because we have anything to hide, but because this guide should stand on the quality of its opinions, not on who's writing them. No sponsorships. No paid placements. No favours. Just two people who've spent a lifetime drinking coffee and know when a cup is truly exceptional.

"We don't review cafés for a living. We drink coffee for a life worth living, and we think you should know where to find the good stuff."
